/017 & Doublet Release Exclusive “Surprise!” T-Shirt Capsule

/017 is dropping a special collaborative T-shirt capsule featuring imagery of its Doublet “Surprise!” lookbook. Coming less than a month after the Canadian retailer dropped its full look at Doublet’s Fall/Winter 2019 range, this latest set of photos takes the creepy clown theme to the next level.

For this T-shirt capsule, five lookbook images were hand-selected by Doublet designer Ino Masayuki where he later went on to choose the placement and graphics to be applied over each tee. The result sees a large photo print accompanied by the /017 name and Doublet’s “STRANGEST COMFORT” tagline.

A key component to the T-shirt capsule release is that each shirt is compressed and placed at random in a plastic toy capsule ball. The shirt is unpacked by placing it in warm water for 10 minutes. The made-in-Japan oversized shirts can be found now over at /017’s web store for a price of $265 CAD (approximately $200 USD).

Sony’s Leaked PlayStation 5 Design Has Been Rendered

Sony’s earlier-leaked PlayStation design has just received a digital rendering. Provided by the team over at LetsGoDigital, the render shows a screwless design with a plethora of air vents and blue LED lighting — it looks just like a mini PC gaming rig.

One of the key design elements of the PlayStation 5 patent can be seen at the top of the console where a large “V” shaped mold is present. This is not only supposedly for increased airflow to the tech-filled machine, but also a little gesture towards the Roman numeral for “five.”

The PS 5 is expected to have groundbreaking specs like 8K game capability, an 8-core AMD Ryzen processor, and an SSD for shorter loading times.

Take a look at the renders above and let us know if this is the PlayStation 5 you’ve been waiting for.

First Trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Mandalorian’ Will Have Fans on the Edge of Their Seats

After a few sneak peeks and on-set photos, the first trailer for Star Wars‘ live-action The Mandalorian series has finally arrived.

Directed by Jon Favreau, the Disney+ series will center on the Mandalorian who is a “lone gunfighter.” From the visuals posted above, fans will be happy to see Favreau sticking to the same aesthetics as the first Star Wars trilogy, however, taking on a much darker tone as seen in films like Mad Max.

According to Disney, the series takes place after Jango and Boba Fett’s time and is set between the fall of the Empire and the emergence of the First Order.

On the project Favreau told The Hollywood Reporter, “I wrote four of the episodes before I even had a deal, because I wanted to do this but only if they wanted to do the version that I wanted to do.” He continued, “I had been thinking about Star Wars since Disney acquired Star Wars. When I was working on Lion King, it was a full-time job for a few of the years, but there was a lot of time when I just had to be available for three very focused hours a day. The TV model allowed me to be an executive producer [on Mandalorian], which allowed me to, on my own time, write everything. It’s a lot like being a chef. You write the menu, you staff up with people who are great at what they do, you oversee and help guide the people who are actually cooking the food, working the line, and then at the end, you plate. That’s why it worked well for Disney. Plus, Disney+ is emerging and there’s an opportunity to tell a story that’s bigger than television, but you don’t have the same expectations that a big holiday release has, which to me isn’t that type of Star Wars that comes out of me. The type of Star Wars that I’m inspired to tell is a smaller thing with new characters.”

The trailer debuted today during Disney’s D23 Expo, which is currently being held in Anaheim, California.

The Mandalorian will star Pedro Pascal as the Mandalorian, Gina Carano as Cara Dune, Carl Wheaters as Greef Carga, Omid Abtahi as Dr. Pershing, as well as Nick Nolte, Giancarlo Esposito, Emily Swallow, and Werner Herzog in undisclosed roles, and Taika Waititi as the voice of the droid IG-11. The series will air on Disney+ November 12.

In more entertainment news, Apple TV+ is expected to launch in November for $9.99 USD per month.

Notably, the music video for “Fell In Love” comes to us courtesy of director John Rawl.

“I fell in love with the money, fell in love with the drugs / I fell in love with the drank, guess I’m stuck in the mud / She a freak and she know it, that bitch stuck in the club / If this rap don’t work, I’m running off on the plug,” Fenix Flexin raps during the first verse of “Fell In Love. “I can’t see you pussy n***as through these Cartis, ayy / We done brought the pistols in the party / We done brought the choppers like a Harley.”

“’Fell In Love’ is a song that would describe everything up to this point in time of my life,” Fenix explains to FADER. “This past year I’ve gone through a bunch of changes some good some bad, poor to rich, getting high to getting even higher, quitting drugs and starting again — real rockstar lifestyle shit. I felt like it was time for a turning point to get me in a better place of mind, body, and spirit and this song kind of wrapped up certain phases in my life.”

Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign & Takeoff Debut New “Slidin” Collaboration

At the beginning of this month, Tyga linked up with YG and Blueface for the “Bop” video. Now, for the official deluxe version of his latest studio album Legendary, Tyga teams up with Ty Dolla $ign and Migos superstar Takeoff for a high-profile new collaborative cut known as “Slidin.”

“My music isn’t even trap, which is weird because strip club culture is really only big in in the South,” Tyga explained to Billboard earlier this year, opening up about the global appeal of records like “Slidin.” “when you go to Australia and Asia, it’s different. But these people love [the music]. I think it’s just the way it makes you want to dance, you know what I’m saying? It takes you outside of whatever problem that you’re dealing with. You just want to have a good time with your friends.”

“If it sounds good, you gotta go with it,” Tyga adds, sharing some insight into his approach to making and releasing music. “Everything is about timing. Sometimes music [trends] will be slow and more melodic, or go more island-sounding. You just gotta navigate within it. Like right now, Latin and K-pop is really huge, but hip-hop will still always be number one with me ’cause it’s so cultural — it’s what makes music cool. We’re the trendsetters. So whatever we do, people always will want to be a part of it.”

You can listen to Tyga, Ty Dolla $ign and Takeoff’s new collaboration for the deluxe edition of Legendary, “Slidin,” above.

Disney Announces More Information Surrounding Fully-Immersive Star Wars Hotel (UPDATE)

UPDATE (August 23, 2019): At this week’s D23 expo, Disney finally announced a name and concept for its much-anticipated Star Wars vacation experience, first spoken of at D23 2017. The hotel itself will be modeled after a Rebel starcruiser named The Halcyon and will be fully integrated into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Fans of the franchise who are hoping to truly get away can take part in an immersive two-night excursion called Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. As part of the experience, guests will be encouraged to interact with characters and insert themselves into various storylines while on board the The Halcyon.

Official photos have not been released yet, but in the meantime, see photos taken by D23 2019 attendees below.

Original story (Jul 16, 2017): Disney has announced quite a lot at this past D23 expo, but out of all the headlines nothing stands out like that of a RPG-styled Star Wars hotel. The hotel will simulate being on a space ship, with windows that will only display the vastness of space. The employees will be constantly in character, and the storyline will be part of every moment of your stay. While the hotel would be extremely successful in any location, the first Star Wars hotel will likely be built in Orlando. If this concept works out well, it will be interesting to see what other fictional universes could follow suit and have their own immersive experience.

Gucci, Prada, Ralph Lauren, Zara and More Join World Leaders in Fighting Climate Crisis (UPDATE)

UPDATE (August 23, 2019): Following yesterday’s announcement that the talks were in place, several heavy-hitting fashion companies have now officially joined forces to aid in protecting the planet from climate change. French President Emmanuel Macron, Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire, Minister of Labour Muriel Pénicaud,
and Deputy Minister of Ecological and Solidary Transition Brune Poirso joined over 30 representatives from a host of fashion labels, retailers and distributors to the Elysée Palace to launch The Fashion Pact.

Three steps inform the plan, which was developed ahead of the G7 meeting and lead by Kering CEO François-Henri Pinault: A pledge to stop global warming by reducing greenhouse gas emissions to zero by 2050, objectives that will use science-based targets to restore natural ecosystems and protect animals and, finally, steps that will protect the oceans through achievements that include entirely removing single-use plastics from use. Every company involved in the Pact has promised to uphold these tenets and find ways to bring innovation to the science of reducing climate change.

The 32 participants in The Fashion Pact are: adidas, Bestseller, Burberry, Capri Holdings Limited (which includes Versace and Michael Kors), Carrefour, Chanel, Ermenegildo Zegna, Everybody & Everyone, Fashion3, Fung Group, Galeries Lafayette, Gap, Giorgio Armani, H&M, Hermes, Inditex (Zara), Karl Lagerfeld, Kering, La Redoute, MATCHESFASHION.COM, Moncler, Nike, Nordstrom, Prada, Puma, PVH Corp., Ralph Lauren, Ruyi, Salvatore Ferragamo, Selfridges, Stella McCartney and Tapestry.

ORIGINAL STORY (August 22, 2019): It has been announced that G7 leaders will soon be joined by the likes of Gucci‘s owner Kering and the Inditex Group — owner of Zara — to agree on a pact which will aim to tackle the growing climate crisis.

The G7 — a group consisting of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as the EU and European Commission — is a global representation made up of the leading advanced economies. Together, the G7 countries come together to discuss everything from the environment to the economy.

The talks will look at ways to fight growing environmental issues, as well as protecting oceans and biodiversity. Some of the world’s leading high street labels such as H&M and Zara will also join in on the talks, which could change the fashion industry’s future relationship with climate change.

G7 and over 20 brands will come together this weekend in Biarritz to hold the discussion, which comes at a time where labels such as H&M are being called out for “greenwashing” campaigns and claims regarding its sustainability. Recent news has also uncovered that textile waste has increased by 811% since the ’60s, and campaigners such as Extinction Rebellion have said that they will be demonstrating at London Fashion Week next month in a bid to scrap the event over climate change issues.

Despite this, some high street labels are taking steps to tackle climate change. Last month, Zara and its parent group Inditex announced that it would introduce 100% sustainable fabrics into its collections by 2025 and develop eco-efficient stores. Stay tuned to HYPEBEAST for updates on the G7 discussion as news unfolds.
